Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son has Crohns disease and gets Remicade infusions every 8 weeks. He is 11years old. He gets labs drawn before every infusion. The RBC Morphology show slight polychromasia. His sed rate was up and his C-reactive protein was elevated more than usual. What does this mean and should I be concerned?
Thank you for your question on HCM. In my opinion nothing to worry about this report. Chrons disease is inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In this disease their is constant inflammation in intestines and this will cause symptoms. ESR and C Reactive protein are marker of inflammation and so elevated in this disease. So to supress this anti inflammatory drugs needed. So before injection it is normal to have high esr and CRP.
