General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Melatonin is a hormone that regulates sleep and has a half-life of about 30 minutes to 2 hours. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) is an antihistamine that can be used as a sleep aid and has a half-life of 4-6 hours. Lorazepam (Ativan) is a benzodiazepine that is used to treat anxiety and insomnia and has a half-life of about 12-16 hours.
However, the duration that these substances remain in the system can vary depending on factors such as age, overall health, and dosage. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional before taking these medications.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
