General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on the laboratory report data you have furnished, the following conclusions can be drawn.
AST and ALT are liver enzymes which are increased in hepatocelluar damage (damage to liver cells). Your values is certainly indicates an increase by about 3 folds than the normal values.
This could be due to following reasons:
1. Smoking and consumption of alcohol.
2. Fatty liver changes.
Kindly quit smoking and consumption of alcohol completely, if you are habituated to. Also, get an ultrasound scan done to note for the fatty liver changes or any other cause to be associated for its increase.
In case no cause is found, you may take antioxidant and lipotrophic factor preparations and repeat the investigations after 6 months to look for the improvement.
Kindly consult Physician for an opinion with the reports for review for appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
