What Do The Following Blood Test Reports Indicate?

My husband has a total protein 9.1 and albumin 5.1. all the other blood tests are unremarkable except sodium and calcium is slightly elevated. He has no other symptoms. He went to urgent care with some musculoskeletal pain and they did the workup. There was also hemolysis while collecting the sample. They said he was dehydrated. Is there something to worry?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Electrolytes disturbances and high protein might be related to dehydration, liver or kidney disease. I would advise him for battery of tests like liver function test, kidney function test, complete blood count, serum sodium, potassium and calcium (repeat it again). Meanwhile give him lots of fluids and clean water, glucose water if he is not diabetic. If you can write back to me with these information like his age, relevant medical history like diabetes, heart disease or kidney disease, and the symptoms he is having.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. BR Hudda
