Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello doctors, I received my medical result and I had a result of (CXR: PTB (L) upper lobe what does it means. I am shocked for the result as I had my medical on February & May 2015 and I don t have this result? Does it possible that my X-ray result was wrong? Pls advise. What is the best thing to do. Thank you.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. The report you have posted is of your chest x-ray. It indicates that you are having pulmonary tuberculosis of upper lobe of your lungs on the left side. It is not possible to predict when these lesions will appear in lungs. If you need to confirm, then you have to get your sputum examined for Acid Fast Bacilli (AFB). the other test which will tell that you have this disease is getting your blood tested by PCR. You don't have to worry much as there are effective drugs to treat tuberculosis. Only thing is that you need to take it for 6 months. Kindly consult Pulmonologist in this regard for proper advise and appropriate management. Hope the information provided is clear. All the best.
