Hi dctr, This forum is good for the info on TB..I have a question regarding this disease.. Initially my sister admitted almost 2 weeks in government hospital and dctr diagnose the parapneumonic effusion with pneumonia. But DR procedure require patient to rule out any possibility of TIBI germs.. So many testing are completed. Herein I attached the details of result.. 1) blood ESR 105 initially and lastly it reduce.this is the trend (105 87 71) 2) CRP reduce (45.89 8.12) 3) AFB x3 negative, and follow up sputum also negative 4) TB C +S pending 5) Cultures NG (no growth) Then the patient been offer to dischrge but need follow up treatment 2 weeks later.during that time DR on antibiotic for 2 weeks prior for next medical.check up. Before discharge,Dr suggest to doing the quantiferon -TB gold (igra test) and bring the result to Dr. The igra test showing positive result, meaning infection likely. I just want to know 1)can we rely 100%from the IGRA test to determine the patient have TB disease or latent TB. 2)IGRA test can replace the clinical testing 3) have any effect if the patient on TB treatment whereas patient not have TB.easy to say wrong desicion from dctr. Futher to that, patient condition after on antibiotic , no chest pain, afebrile,no SOB.ni cough no fever, the appetite normal. And for your info, the fluid in the lung is Can you give me enlightenment so that I can know how Dr interpreted this disease and to ensure all treatment or final diagnos is the right desicion..
