What Do The Presence Of Peripheral Calcifications In Chest Reveal?

Hi there. my name is john and my mom just have a CONTRAST-ENCHANCED CT SCAN OF THE CHEST last January 15. The findings are the following: The CT scan reveals an enhancing slightly lobulated superior mediastinal mass with some internal and periperal calcifications measuring 6.6 x 4.7 x 5.2cm (CC x T x AP). It compresses and appears to invade the superior vena cava.
There is also a 0.3 cm non calcified pulmonary nodule in the anterior segment of the right upper lobe.
FIbrosis is seen in bith upper lobes.
The tracheobronchial tree is patent.
The heart is not enlarged. Minimal calcifications of the aorta is noted.
There is no pleural or pericardial effusion.
The vascular and osseous sturctures are not unusual.

My mom hid this to me and base on what i heard she appears not to have any surgery ASAP because she's frightened of the side effects or the pain that will happen after such surgery. Can you please tell the meaning of findings and/or what will happen if this continue to happen. What should i say to convince her to have the prescribe surgery of medication. Thank you and God bless you.
