Hi, I have recently had to have all my teeth taken out and been given dentures as every one of my teeth were very badly damaged. Before I had them removed I noticed that I have small holes in the bottom gum where my lip joins to the gum. I know I shouldn't have, but I put a needle in to try remove some food that had got stuck in one of the holes, and the needle went straight through cos they are quite deep holes, to the point where I was touching my tooth with it. Just wondering what this could be.Xxx
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain deep holes at the bottom gums and on putting needle it goes deep enough and touches the tooth, it indicates that there is deep seated gum infections leading to bone loss and also holes can be due to sinus formations [ pus draining channels] secondary to infection...
In cases of deep infection in the gums leading to severe loss of attachment of the teeth to the gums and also there can be abscess formations which when progresses leads to formation of sinus that helps in pus release..
As now your teeth are extracted, you need not to worry as there might be no more infection left.. Continue wearing your dentures and maintain proper cleanliness of the dentures as well as oral cavity..
Hope this information helps..
Regards.
