Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Please help me understand what this all means....MRI Results state there is a T1 hypo intense and T2 hyper intense multiloculated cystic area adjacent to the body of the left ventricle causing compression to frontal horn of left lateral ventricle. T1 hypointense and T2 hyperintense area of subcortical gliosis seen superior to this encephalmocia Summary: Evidence of IVH, Cystic encephalmocia involving left frontal love with associated gliosis. Evidence of moderate hydrocephalus and loss of brain volume more marked on the left side.
Please find the MRI findings detailed below There is a fluid containing area in the left side of brain next to the fluid containing space called lateral ventricle. It has a rounded appearance which is described as lobulated. This is causing pressure effect on the frontal lobe of brain on the left side. This is a harmless change in the brain and is called encephalomalacia meaning brain which is soft.
There is increase in fluid in the brain and this is causing increased pressure in the brain. This is called hydrocephalus.
The brain volume is decreased on the left side.
In conclusion, a complete analysis of clinical history and symptoms is required to make an accurate understanding of the MRI scan. Please do not worry.
