Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im 45, female with early onset of osteoarthritis. I had first knee patella realignment at 16, and orthoscopic surgery on both knees too. I ve had many injections in my knees over the last few years. Mt left knee is a partial reaplacement that was completed Dec. 2013. Rt knee will be a full knee in near future. All of my joints are affected and I m currently taking Zoloft to help depression and anxiety that is mostly due to my ongoing health issues. My back has become so painful and I cannot do much daily due to pain. I m no longer able to work. I was doing high end real estate and managing our construction company. Also if I have much physical activity back, knee, and shoulder pain gets hard to control. I get fluid on both knees very easily and have to get them drained. The following is narration from MRI of my spine from year ago. I m considering surgery on my back and would like your thougts. Mild chronic anterior loss of height of the T11-L1 vertebral bodies. Degenerative loss of disc signal and height and Schmorls nodes at these levels.Accompanying mild kyphosis. Findings suggest Scheuermann Disease. Multi level degenerative loss of signal and height. L5-S1: Disc Buldge with right posterior annular fissure. No significant deformity of the dural sac. Advanced facet arthrosis with associated subchondral bone marrow edema and enhancement and periarticular edema and enhancement. The neural foramina are patent. L4-5: Disc buldge. Facet arthrosis with reactive bone marrow edema and enhancement and periarticular edema and enhancement. No significant deformity of the dural sac. Encroachment left neural foramen with mild distortion of the exiting left L4 nerve root. L3-4: disc buldge without significant deformity of dural sac. Bilateral facet arthrosis. Neural formia patent. L2-3: Tiny disc buldge without significant distortion to dural sac. Neural formina patent L1-2: disc buldge without out significant distortion of the dural sac. Neural formina patent. Impression: 1. Facet Arthropathy L4-5 and L5S1 with associated marrow edema and enhancement compatible with synovitis. 2. Multi-Level small disc buldge. 3. Encroachment left neural foramen L4-5 above. Note: My pain is worse than a year ago. I m currently taking oxycodone 30mg 4 x daily. I have an appt Monday with Neurosurgery and I d like your opinion. I Apologize for taking your time. I didn t see where I had to pay for a question till after typing my question and then the proceed button. I would pay if I had funds. My husband recently left me and our two children and emptied the bank and our entire home while we were out. Said he could not deal with my health issues..

What Do These MRI Findings Indicate?
Hello, * The Scheurrman`s syndrome is an idiopathic disorder of possible genetic origin also known as juvenile osteochondrosis condition. * It affects thoracic and lumbar vertebrae to various extent. * The therapy depends upon the level of kyphosis and other symptoms, but common guidelines are - heating pad application - NSAID ( non steroidal anti inflammatory medications ) - physical therapy - assisted physiotherapy - life style modifications - brace for kyphosis of 25 - 50 degree - surgery of fusion of vertebrae when kyphosis of more than 70 degree Would like to address your further issues for discussion ahead Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
