What Do These TSH Reading During Pregnancy Indicate?

my wife is in 12th week of pregnency and is on thyronorm 75 mg since last 4 month. yesterday she did a TSH test in fasting , but she took her thyronorm 75 mg at 6 am and blood sample was taken at 8.30 am . now the test reports showing level of TSH as 8.3 . is there any reason to worry ?. or the levels are higher just because the test was done during fasting.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query.

Well the thyroid test is always done in fasting condition.

But a value of 8.3 is high. A high TSH value during pregnancy could affect mental growth of the baby.

So my recommendation is to increase the dose of Thyronorm to 100mcg and repeat TSH after 4/weeks .

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.
