Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do These Following Ultrasound Scan And X-ray Reports Indicate?
On 4 October I had an accident which caused 6 fractured ribs. That did not show up on the first Xray, but only showed up on a subsequent scan. The scan also showed minimal pleural effusion on the left side. 3 weeks later on 25 October an Xray still showed a very small amount of pleural effusion. The day after, 26 October I took a short distance flight of 1 hour and experienced no adverse effects. I was advised not to fly long distance for another 2 weeks, which would then be 5 weeks after the accident. What is your advice on this matter
The radiological investigation showed the presence of rib fractures. The rib fractures require immobilization and rest for a reunion.
I suggest you consult your orthopedician for a repeat X-ray to confirm that the fracture has united. The pleural effusion is probably due to trauma which is expected to resolve within few weeks
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
