What Do These Triglyceride And Cholesterol Levels Indicate?
I found out yesterday my triglycerides are 575. Cholesterol 238 Dr said start zocor , wait two weeks then start tricor, I am 65 and am afraid I can have a heart attack or stroke any minute. Am I overreacting? Is okay to wait two weeks for the tricor?.
Hello, I understand your concern. Your triglycerides are indeed through the roof, and your cholesterol is high too. It is a good thing, though, that you have already started the medication and taking Zocor, followed by Tricor is the right and standard course of action. In order to prevent a heart attack, your medication should also be accompanied by a change in lifestyle. Being on a healthy food regimen, containing plenty of fruit and vegetables and avoiding meat altogether and other high fat foods, as well as sugar and sugary drinks and processed food products are all the sensible thing to do. Taking up some light physical activity such as walking a few blocks everyday would have huge health benefits.
Wishing you good health and all the best.
