Hello,
Coming to your presentation of pain and
tingling sensation, there are many causes of such symptoms which occur in long term diseases (
diabetes, nerve degeneration etc). But after carefully seeing your presentation, the most probable cause in my opinion might be
Carpel tunnel syndrome.
Carpel tunnel syndrome occurs when a major nerves to the hand (
median nerve) is compressed as it travels through the wrist. This can be caused in different situations:
1. women and older people are more likely to develop
2. Heredity
3. Repetitive hand use (Repeating the same hand and wrist motions)
4. Hand and wrist position (Doing activities that involve extreme flexion or extension of the hand and wrist for a prolonged period of time)
The carpel tunnel syndrome can be confirmed by:
1. Nerve conduction studies
2. Electromyogram (EMG)
3. MRI
Coming to treatment part you can follow the below:
1.
Bracing or splinting - Wearing a brace or splint at night will keep you from bending your wrist while you sleep which reduces pressure on the nerve.
2. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)-
ibuprofen and
naproxen can help relieve pain and inflammation.
3. Activity changes -reduce activities in which wrist is flexed or extended.
4. Steroid injection may relieve some symptoms.
5. Nerve gliding exercises.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
