What Do Tumors In The Lungs While Suffering From Lymphoma Indicate?

My husband was diagnosed with B cell lymphoma in November 2015. He had a CT scan last November. The result was that a couple of new tumors were discovered in the chest cavity , near his lungs. The oncologist wasn t overly concerned, neither did he recommend treatment. He left that facility, and the new doctor to which my husband was referred is requesting another scan this Friday. Isn t it too early to have another CT scan? I m concerned about all that radiation going into his body.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Presence of multiple tumor nodules in the chest is a known case of lymphoma and has to be ruled out.

My few queries to you. Had your husband completed the course of treatment (chemotherapy) for lymphoma?

Those nodules can be infective also (after immuno suppression) or might be relapse also.

CT has to be done and biopsy has to be done to fine out what are those? Previous CT was done in November and it's April now. No problem, you can go for it.

One more thing that is necessary for management. You have to look for better management rather than radiation effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
