Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just started having symptoms of small white bumps on my fingers, left hand only. Also large red bump on left index finger that itches. I do not believe something bit me. I have been having other issues (balance, gait) that are affecting me. I am a 74 y/o white female. Could u help me or give me a clue where to research further? Thank you. email: YYYY@YYYY
White bumps on the fingers can be due to allergic reaction or eczema. If the bumps are in the form of small bubbles then it can also be due to pompholyx eczema.
A clinical examination is a must to rule out what exactly it is so that a confirmed diagnosis can be made and accordingly the treatment can be planned.
In case if there is a doubt a biopsy can be done or in case if the allergy is suspected then an allergy test in the form of a patch test can be done for confirmation.
For now, you can apply Corticosteroid based cream like Clobetasol or Betamethasone. Anti-itch ointment like Benadryl ointment can also be advised. Also, you should keep the fingers lubricated by applying petroleum jelly and also can apply coconut oil. Avoid using harsh chemical cosmetics or detergents and soaps.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora,
