Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
initially (last Friday) I noticed I had white spots on my tonsils, then they disappeared and left me with enlarged tonsils. I went to doctor on a wed and she said it will go away and has given me a penicillin prescription to keep at home. Today when I looked inside my mouth, I can see my epiglottis, which freaked me out. It feels uncomfortable to swallow but no pain. I am afraid to eat anything right now as I might choke if my epiglottis is enlarged. I don t know what to do.
As per your query you have symptoms of white spots on the tonsils. There can be two possibility for whit spot on the throat. First, it could be tonsil stone that is tonsiliths which is formed when this trapped debris hardens, or calcifies. There could be possibility of that tonsils are filled with pus .
Need not to worry. I would suggest to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may remove the stones and prescribe antibiotics . In some cases tonsillectomy is needed. For now do warm saline gargles which help in removing stones. Avoid intake of sharp and spicy food and cold beverages.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
