Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my alt as of 01/23/14 was 51 and ast was 204. i do drink alot of wine. my doc said we can reverse this trend if i stop drinking. he didn t think i needed a stat referral. what is considered dangerously high alt and ast levels to have a stat referral done
Thank you for asking! Your doctor is right. All you need to do is quit drinking. ALT reference range is 20-60 and AST is 10-34 in males and upto 40 in females. Quit drinking. Thats it. Referral is a doctors option. When they think of it right, they will do. You know the problem and evil. Get rid of it by nipping it from the bud. Take care
