Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does the following ultrasound Result Indicate?
Hi I went to the hospital to get an ultrasound because my doctor thought i may have gallstones. But this is what the ultrasound person put in my notes. The liver is not enlarged there is suggestion of fine irregular contour of the liver and a heterogeneous coarse texture of the liver parenchyma suggesting possible diffuse parenchyma disease of the liver. Bile duct is nondilated measuring 0.32 cm. can you please help me to understand this?
Incomplete data like age, gender, any history of alcohol intake, any other symptoms or medical illness not mentioned. Suggestive of chronic liver disease. The ultrasound findings are suggestive of chronic liver disease due to cirrhosis or hemochromatosis. It needs to be clinically correlated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
