What Does this MRI Test Result Mean?

I just received these MRI results on my knee: Medial meniscus shows minimal intrasubstance signal hyperintensity changes compatible with myxoid degeneration without frank meniscal tear. Bone marrow signal is normal. Articular cartilage shows moderate to significant patellofemoral degenerative joint disease with full-thickness and partial-thickness chondral loss and grade 2 chondromalacia. Focal chondral delamination tear of the weightbearing surface medial condyle is noted. Remaining cartilage is intact. Alignment is anatomic. Moderate patellofemoral and lesser degree femoral tibial compartments especially medial compartment degenerative joint disease is seen. My knee feels full and it is painful to kneel or fully flex it. It hurts during push off and initial heel strike in my gait cycle. What can I do to get rid of the swelling in my knee?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Sir/Madam

Thanks for the details provided.
The above MRI suggests there is a medial meniscal tear.
-A meniscus is a piece of cartilage present in both the knee joints as medial and lateral meniscus.
-They provide cushioning between the shin bone and femoral bone.
-Chondromalacia patella is a inflammation of the underside of the patella and softening of the cartilage.
- Due to the patellofemoral chondral loss(due to increased friction and loss of cartilage) or degeneration there is chondromalacia , both are seen synonymously.

Thank You

Hi i did review your concern.

Your condition is due to degenerative joint disease.
You can do a periodic knee tapping or go for intraarticular steroid injections as they help sometimes
wish you all the best.
