What Does this bone Marrow Test Result Mean?
I am attaching the result of a bone marrow test taken for a 83 year old man. I would like to know what this report says, in general terms.
Macroscopic description:
BOTTLE UNMARKED: Received single cylindrical grayish brown bony fragment measuring 1 cm -1 all.
Microscopic description:
Sections show bone marrow which is markedly hypercellular for age.
The erythroid precursors show mild megaloblastic change.there is increased numbera of megakaryocytes which show clustering. No dysplastic megakaryocytes are seen. Myeloid
Precursors are also increased in number.
There is no increase in reticulin. Iron stores appear depleted.

BONE MARROW (TREPHINE) BIOPSY SHOWING HYPERCELLULAR MARROW WITH TRILINEAL HYPERPLASIA WITH DEPLETED IRON STORES.

Hi! this bone marrow report is not normal and indicates two possibilities:
1. chronic myeloid leukemia or myeloproliferative neoplasm; if periphery also shows simils features like blast cells
2. ITP or idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura if platelet count is reduced!
Therefore, CBC report is essential for a confirmed opinion; please revert back to me if more clarification needed;
