What Does this semen Analysis Test Result Mean?

Hi, I m 31 year and married since last 4 months, recently undergone semen analysis first time. Results are: quantity 1.5 ml, total mortile sperm/ejaculation: 9.6 millions/ml,active motile 15%, sluggish motile 25%, immotile 60%, abnormal morphology: 10%, pus cell : 1-2/ hpf, red cells : absent, epithelial cells: 0-2/hpf. Please advise.

Hello

Your semen analysis findings may indicate semen infection with decreased sperm motility and low sperm count.
Infection is indicated due to presence of few pus cells in semen.Normally semen shouldn't contain any pus cells.

You may need investigations like routine hemogram,random blood sugar,semen culture and sensitivity.
You may need to take antibiotics based on culture and sensitivity report.

Motility is low.Normally it should be at least 55 %.Your findings suggests over all 40% motility,so it is low.

Sperm count is also low.Normally it should be at least 20 millions/ml.

Fertility is expected to increase with control of infection.If infertility persists then you may need assisted fertilization techniques.
