Hello and welcome to HCM, The intepretation of sputum analysis is as follows: The first report shows presence of epithelial cells and pus cells. There is absence of acid fast bacilli also. Acid fast bacilli are causative agents for tuberculosis. The second report shows presence of epithelial cells, pus cells and also acid fast bacilli. Usually three samples are examined for acid fast bacilli. Presence of acid fast bacilli is indicative of infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, causative agent of tuberculosis. I suggest you to consult your physician with your reports for further management.
