An ultrasound of my left hype has shown that i have a partial gluteus medius tear size 12mm x 19mm. i have been suffering for the past 12 months from pain in my buttock, sitting too long cause, standing too long cause pain and also walking is hard.. i am always limping. They also find out that i have a tendonitis of of the gluteus medius. Do you think i need to have a surgery ? Thank yoiu
Hi Your report says that Gluteus medius muscle is torn alongwith inflammation of its tendon. This condition is known as gluteus medius syndrome.
It usually takes 2-6 weeks time in healing if treated properly. You need to see a physical therapist for guiding you regarding some exercises for its management. You can take a simple painkiller, like tablet ibuprofen twice daily or you can apply ice over the affected area to reduce pain & inflammation. If symptoms still persist, show to a surgeon. Thank you
