What Does 100,00 CFU/ml Of Proteus Murabilis Mean?
My 3 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with a UTI. The diagnosis is 599.0 uti - site not specified but .. The result is greater than 100,000 CFU/ml of Proteus Murabilis. From things I am reading, this is scary? How would she get proteus murabalis as compare to E. coli
Hello and welcome to HCM, The urine culture report suggests presence of infection with bacteria Proteus mirabilis. A colony count of 100,000 CFU suggests a heavy infection load. Along with culture, drug sensitivity also needs to be done to know the most appropriate antibiotic effective against the bacteria. E coli is another type pf bacteria which causes urinary tract infection. Proteus mirabilis is also a bacteria responsible for urinary tract infection.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
