What Does BP Of 159/121 Indicate?

what does it mean to have a bp of 159/121? I recently had a heart attack and now have a pace maker. My pacemaker shocked me 6 times. Not fun. I did go to the er and they also said I have artial fibulation. Which is why they think my pacemaker shocked me. I am on medication now for bp, and to keep my heart at a slower pace

Hi,

Blood pressure of 159/121 means there still hypertension. Since you are on medications and pacemaker only an actual examination by a cardiologist and further investigations can tell the cause of persistent hypertension.

You may have to go ahead with further evaluation of kidney functions, aldosterone and steroid tests, thyroid functions and anything that can affect the heart functions directly or indirectly. Consult your Cardiologist or take a second opinion for better understanding of your problems and get treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
