What Does C5-C6 Broad Disc Osteophyte Complex With Right Eccentric Protrusion Causing Cord Flattening And Canal Stenosis Mean?

MRI says C5-C6 moderate to severe broad disc osteophyte complex with right eccentric protrusion causing cord flattening and moderate canal stenosis. Bilateral facet and uncovertebral joint arthrosis contributing to moderate bilateral neural foraminal stenosis. What does all that mean???

Hello,

The MRI shows changes in cervical spine at the level of C5-C6. There is formation of osteophytes which can lead to compression of the spinal nerves. Osteophytes are age related changes that occur in bones. There is protrusion of spinal cord also which can further lead to cord prolapse. There is no way to treat the osteophytes, however, the cord protrusion can be dealt with proper rest in order to avoid future disc prolapse.
