What Does Dependent Atelectasis Bilaterally Mean On A CT Scan Report?
My father has been diagnosed with colon cancer that has spread to his liver and lungs. I am trying to help explain the most recent CT scan to him, but I don t fully understand the terminology that they provided. We have undergone several chemo treatments, so this CT scan is a follow up. Can you please explain the following statement/finding: Dependent atelectasis bilaterally. multiple hypoattenuating hepatic lesions.
I will explain about terminology. Bilaterally atelectasis means complete collapse of lungs of both sides. and multiple hypo-attenuating hepatic lesions means multiple low-density hepatic lesions or area.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
