Hello Doctor I am Shuvodip Chowdhury. My mother feel urinary problem. Doctor gave her KUB-PVR Test. My query is what test it is? How this test will be taken? Actually for what purpose this test will be given to the patient. and Finally what treatment are there.
I understand your mother has to get ultrasound scan of kidneys and urinary bladder done for possible urinary infection. This is a simple test where we ask the patient to drink lots of water and check the kidneys and urinary bladder for any problems. Then the patient is asked to pass entire urine and we scan again to see if there is any remaining urine known as post void residue (PVR). This may indicate the presence of urinary bladder infection. Treatment is by taking medicines for 7 days and drinking lots of water and passing urine frequently.
