What Does Left Ventricle Is Mildly Dilated Indicate?
Hello I had a CDM Echo 2D complete w Doppler color flw done and conclusion are as follows: Left ventricle is mildly dilated Moderately reduced left ventricular systolic function RCA regional wall motion abnormality Estimated left ventricular ejection fraction is 40% What would be the recommendations ?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The echocardiography report shows presence of dilated left ventricle which has lead to reduction in left ventricular ejection fraction to 40%. Left ventricle supplies blood to whole body and reduction in ejection fraction causes reduction in blood supply to whole body. For managing this condition, first the cause of dilated left ventricle has to be found. After determining cause of dilated left ventricle, the treatment can be instituted. The treatment is primarily conservative wherein drugs which increase the contractible of cardiac muscles and thus increase left ejection fraction have to be prescribed. You need to consult your cardiologist for further management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
