What Does MRI Showing Nonspecific Opacification Of Right Mastoid Air Cells Mean?
Hi, I have been suffering from vertigo for a month now. Had a VNG study that was positive for Central involvement . Had an MRI that showed Nonspecific opacification of a few right mastoid air cells, very mild white matter changes thought to most likely reflect the sequelae of chronic small vessel ischemic disease, No MR evidence of acute intracranial pathology, and unremarkable MR appearance of the region of the internal auditory canals. I understand this means no brain tumors but what is the opacification? Is this something that should be checked into or am I good just to learn to live with the vertigo?
Opacification of the middle ear and mastoid represents a spectrum of inflammatory, neoplastic, vascular, fibro-osseous, and traumatic changes can be any of it. Please consult a ENT doctor for further call as they will have a look at you examine you and come to conclusion.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
