Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. I will first narrate indications of surgery in case of disc surgery to give you some insight
; disc herniation causing discogenic pain which is not responding to maximum dose of painkillers even after 2 weeks
; disc herniation causing
nerve damage and focal deficit
; traumatic disc herniation
; disc herniation causing compression of
spinal cord with focal deficit
; disc herniation with slippage of
vertebral bodies over each other
; patient is fit to undergo surgery
; clinics-radiologic correlation which means your symptoms' origin is explained by radiologically confirmed disc herniation.
Now coming to your complaints and radiologic findings, it appears that your symptoms are due to disc herniation. But from your question, it is not clear whether you have taken any medication for it? whether you are having any focal deficit? If answer of both questions is "yes", you might need surgery. If answer is "no", you should
consult doctor and take conservative treatment.
Meanwhile, you can follow few tips
;
bed rest ; avoid neck flexion. You can use neck collar (soft or hard) according to your neck size
; avoid pillow use while lying in supine position
; avoid lifting weight
; you can take painkiller like Pregabaline or Gabapentine or combination after proper prescription
If you get some relief, you can wait and watch. If still no relief, you should consult doctor.
Hope it will help you. Thanks. Take care.
