What Does SGOT-112 And SGPT-68 From Blood Test Indicate?
Hello Dr. Charles, today I did my complete blood test and my SGOT is at 112 and SGPT at 68. I am a frequent alcohol drinker (Twice a week) and regular smoker(10 per day). I have started jogging for 30 mins a day and also workout in the gym now a days. How soon can I get my fatty liver in place and enjoy mild drinking ( ready to quit smoking) and can you also give your insight on the situation and any suggestions?
High SGPT may indicate liver injury. It may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, alcohol intake, altered lipid profile, medicines, auto immune causes etc. It may be due to alcohol in your case. SGOT in non specific and it increases in many conditions.
You may need few more investigations like viral markers. I suggest tablet ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg twice daily for three months to my patients. It helps in regeneration of liver cells.
Fatty liver is a reversible condition and it may be due to alcohol in your case. It is good that you are doing workout. You should continue it.Avoid fatty food.
Get well soon. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
