Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 1 year nephew having (SGPT) 463 whereas the normal value is 40 . we are giving a very sensative treatment . Before some days he sufferred from fever and used to senseless when temperature raised more than 100 degree . Now under treatment , fever and senseless is controlled by doctor but SGPT value 463 worrying us . What should we do?
Suggestive of liver disease. SGPT is mainly produced in the liver and leaks into the bloodstream when produced in excess. Thus, very high level of SGPT in the blood can be an indication of damage or problems related to the liver like fatty liver, hepatitis, cirrhosis, hemochromatosis, certain medications, gall bladder disease and gall stones. He should be thoroughly evaluated by relevant lab tests such as blood tests, and abdominal ultrasound to determine the underlying cause for proper treatment.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
