What Does A 1.8cm Foetus Indicate?

I am writing for a friend, she is just recently pregnant and went for an internal ultrasound today. they say the baby is 1.8 cm how far along is she in her pregnancy. Her last period was the 24th of December because she was taking the birth control pill, she really didn t get another period after the 24th of December. The doctors are trying to figure it out.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The length is not the only measurement used to determine the likely duration of the pregnancy.
Biparietal diameter (size of head) can also be used though normally a little later.

The length indicates she may greater than 7 weeks, less than 14 weeks.

Normally the estimated time is calculated and included in the ultrasound result.
Her doctor may repeat if it is not clear.

I hope this helps
