Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I see a very small black dot in one eye. This eye has been progressively getting worse in vision. I can see but it s very blurry until I hold something close to my face. When I talk to anyone, the eye seems to want to drift, like it s a lazy eye. I wear readers but this little black dot has me more concerned. Could this be cataracts? My other eye is practically 20/20.
I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.
I feel the black dot that you re describing is a scotoma – a partial loss of vision. Scotomas occur due to any nerve problems, clot in the blood vessels supplying the eye, due to increasing age etc. I would advise you to see an ophthalmologist for a thorough assessment as soon as possible.
I hope this answer has helped you.
Thank you
