What Does A Black Mark On The Replaced Hip Shown In Xray Indicate?

Recently, I had an x-ray of my back and you could see my hip replacements on the x-ray. the replacemenr is about 8 yrs. old. On the ball of the replacement I saw a small black oval in the middle of the ball part. It was outstanding because the replacement is so white. I have also lately had some discomfort with that replacement. What could the black mark indicate?

Hi,

Noted your small but specific question about the black hole seen on X-ray of the replaced joint.
There will be a place for fixing the screw that will appear as a black hole on X-ray.
