I have a place above the fingernail that first appeared as an apparent blister that would not heal at the time I experienced repeated trauma from collisions between this area and trimming implements while doing yard work. Doctors at the VAMC (VA Medical Center) examined the blister and were not concerned and did nothing. I seem to remember having this exact same problem in my teens and popping the blister repeatedly until it finally went away. Now however, I lanced the blister several times and it will not heal. The blister has a center that appears darker with the rest appearing whitish like a regular blister. On lancing the blister, a viscous clear fluid drains and the blister flattens. I have used a triple antibiotic ointment followed by Lotrimin to treat for any fungus infection as well. The blister area has become much smaller than original and no longer appears like a blister but has a stubborn red center that refuses to heal. I have athletes foot fungus which sometimes spreads to my hands. Also, decades ago I experienced an infection that was both bacterial and fungal that the VAMC cured with oral anitibiotics and antibiotic ointment followed by Lotrimin antifungul cream. The area is smaller and now is ringed by whitish peeling tissue with a red center. Any advice would be most appreciated. I have suspected dermatitis, fungal infection, bacterial infection boil, even palmer warts since I have plantar warts on my feet. I am diabetic. Thank you.
