What Does A Blister On The Upper Lip Indicate?

My son once had a clear bubble appear above his upper lip...it was there for months...in scratched in off with my nail....it bead a bit then never came back....months later he got one r his bottom lip...it about the size of a normal pimple....what is it?

Hi,

If the blister is in the form of a fluid-filled blister then it can be a cold sore cause be herpes simplex virus infection. Other cause can be an overgrown sebaceous gland.

However a clinical examination is a must to rule out the exact nature of it but still, it is advisable to avoid lancing or popping the lump.

In case if it is viral infection you can be advised antiviral medicine like Acyclovir and Valtrex ointment.
