Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have receding gums, i started salt water treatment to helo the healing and blood flow. It helped with soreness and pain, today i notice on the affected gums the affected gum tissue filled with blood and fell off looking like a clot, the infection has gotten so much better but this puzzles me.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It looks like your gums are inflamed and it is the cause for bleeding and clot in the gums. All this is secondary to infection along with receeding gums. So my suggestion is to consult an oral physician and get evaluated. A Panoramic x ray should be done to check for the condition of the underlying bone also. A deep scaling and curettage can be done followed by a course of antibiotics like Metrogyl and gum paint massage. Also do warm saline gargles and antiseptic mouthwash gargles. If the recession is too much gum grafting can be advised.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
