Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hey I’m a teenage male and about five days ago I’ve noticed a small pipe-like bump on my face fast forward to today and I’m quite convinced it’s a boil. The skin around the boil is red and peeling. I have been applying heat to the boil to no avail. No sure what else to do. Thanks
Boil if not large enough and soft in consistency usually resolves of its own by disruption. Do not try to break it manually as it leaves black scar mark. If it is large and hard in consistency you need antibiotics.
Do take Bactrim (Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprime) course, as per physician advice. Apply hot compression.
After boil is ruptured on its own, drain pus carefully and apply topical antibiotics ointment. Get advice of physician for above treatment for prescription.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
