Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On one arm I have a two inch purple bruise with a hard, round bump in the center. It doesn t hurt or itch. It appeared once before (maybe three months ago) and then dissipated. I was encouraged to have it checked to rule-out post tramatic calcification on a muscle.
Post-traumatic calcification of muscle does to resolve or recur, hence the possible causes for the 2 inch purple bruise with hard, round and painless bump in the center of it can be due to the following reasons:
Some coagulopathy or platelet problems like reduced count, defective adherence or so can cause such a problem. Direct or indirect trauma can cause such localized swelling with same characters as you have mentioned. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult your Doctor for an actual examination of the bruise so that further investigations as needed and a referral to the specialist can be done for confirmation and an appropriate management as and if needed. Avoid contact with hard surfaces till then. Do not apply anything locally as these do not help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
