What Does A Bump At The Base Of The Thumb Indicate?
Hello. I have a bump the size of a small ball bearing just below my thumb at my wrist close to the radius. It s hard, it hurts and it showed up yesterday, all of a sudden. Still there today, hard but sensitive to the touch. What do you think it is. I ve had a ganglion cyst before on the top of my wrist but this is different. Thank you. Colleen Leof
The fact that this bump appeared suddenly and its location favor the diagnosis of a ganglioncyst.
Generally they are not dangerous and half of them go away on their own without a specific treatment. If it is bothering you then you may see your doctor and he can aspirate it or remove it.
I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
