Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a bump on a bone in my left shoulder. I believe it s called the acromion. It was xrayed and the diagnosis is that it is a form of arthritis. Since it doesn t involve a joint (I think), what sort of arthritis is this? I use my arms and hands a lot, and I m a 76 year old male.
Arthritis primarily affects joints. Involvement of joints is a very important feature of arthritis. Sometimes, rheumatoid arthritis may not involve joints, but, that can be rarely seen or never seen.
With all your descriptions, I suspect your case may be acromial clavicular arthritis. It involves Acromio-clavicular joint. Although without seeing the X-Ray, I am telling you.
But Sir, more than the above description, the treatment is important. I suggest you to have proper treatment. During pain, you can take paracetamol, NSAIDs. You can also take DMARDS under proper supervision.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
