What Does A Cyst In The Groin Area Indicate?

Pardon the lack of anatomic language but I ve noticed a cyst I believe? It s in the crease between my balls and left leg it was about the size of a pea if not a little bigger and a few days after noticing it it had popped and left an obvious crater but upon closer inspection it s not just a crater but a cavity and the hole it left in my skin is roughly the size of the circular part at the end of a safety pen I ve been doing my best to clean it and keep it relatively dry however I can t seem to find any information about the possible condition and I m too humiliated to visit a doctor it s not pushing or bleeding only bleeding small amount when pressure is applied and it looks irritated yet isn t causing pain however it is a bit tender

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an inguinal hernia.

An inguinal hernia occurs when tissue, such as part of the intestine, protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles.

I suggest to do an ultrasound and consult a surgeon for the treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
