What Does A Cyst On The Thumb Indicate?

Hi I have a cyst type lump on my thumb, at the joint, on the outside. It looks similar to a boil but I know it s not that, i have had it come and go for months now, but lately it has been there consistently for at least a month now. It s not sore at ll, occasionally it s a little tender to the touch but mostly it s just u slightly and worrisome

I have gone through your query. If you send a picture of the swelling then it will be more helpful. Is it movable or fixed? If it is present for long time then I would suggest surgical excision and histopathology examination.
