What Does A Dark Spot Around The Lips Indicate?

Hi I have a huge dark spot near my lips. I don’t know whether it’s from waxing or something else. I used 0.5 or 0.005 of the desonide cream and it got better but a lot of pimples formed in that area. The spot is now red/brown and the burnt skin is still there. What should I do?

Hello,

You have symptoms of dark spot around the lips which seems to be due to the removal of the natural moist layer from the lips and sometimes hyperpigmentation which is generally caused by excessive exposure to the UV rays. I would suggest you to use petroleum jelly to maintain moisture. Avoid staying in a dry environment for a longer period. Avoid using creams containing high steroid content. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined if symptoms keep on persisting and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Drink lots of water.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
