I am on oxygen at nite because my blood gases & heart rate go down when I am sleeping. I m 77, work every day & feel pretty good, but wake up in the middle of the nite with kind of a smothering feeling, open the window & let some fresh air in & it goes away, is this a major problem, can t wear a cpac machine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thanks for your consultation at HCM !!
I have gone through your case and as your physician I completely understand your health concern...
If I will be your treating physician I would love to ask some questions.. Do you have any heart issues?? Do feel dyspnea even on lying flat without pillow??? Do you have any Copd or asthma???
I will be happy to get your ECG echo and chest xray done.... If these things all appear normal I will go for sleep studies and after this I will decide regarding cpap or bpap....
Do meet your doctor and he will guide you and look into your matter and will reach the diagnosis..
Hope your question is adequately answered if you still have any feel free to ask...
Regards.
