What Does A Dull Pain At The Ribs Suggest?

My daughter is 17 and is experiencing a dull pain right between the bottom of her ribs and moving to the belly button. Tonight after she ate a very small meal the pain seemed to radiate to her lower back. She has been tested for lactose intolerance and it came back negative. This happened last year and lasted for about a week. I am thinking maybe a hiatus hernia...thoughts?
