What Does A Faint Positive Line In Pregnancy Kit After Abortion Indicate?

I was 6 weeks pregnant and had a surgical abortion 2 weeks ago. I took a full course of antibiotics and started taking an oral contraceptive the very same day. 11 days post procedure, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend, and I took a plan B pill the next morning (within 15 hours of intercourse). I am now 14 days post procedure and my doctor said I can resume normal sexual activity. I took a home pregnancy test and there is still a very faint positive line, although it is much fainter than the ones that showed up when I initially found out I was pregnant. How long should I expect to continue seeing this faint line? How long until hcg has completely cleared from my urine? Should I worry about a new pregnancy? Should I use condoms or spermicide, or am I protected through my oral contraceptive now?

I understand your concern.
Faint line appearing in pregnancy test following abortion is due to increased beta-HCG levels of previous pregnancy, which has not come back to normal. It takes about 2 to 3 weeks to reach to the basal levels and hence you need not worry much about its faint appearance.
Also it takes about 2 weeks for the birth control pills to start its action. Hence, it is advisable to use condoms and spericides during the first cycle of birth control pills.
